Please be patient as our high resolution samples load.

Problem: Such a beautiful day for a wedding in the Virgin Islands. What could go wrong? These photographs were damaged in film processing. Here are a few samples of how we repaired them.

Solution: We repaired the images using the tools in Photoshop. The newlyweds are smiling again.

Solution: Refreshed with the techniques in Photoshop.

Problem: The only known image of the woman in the background is in this snapshot.

Solution: Scan big and crop. Instead of the usual 300 DPI, we scanned a little larger, too large and the image will actually start to look worse. It's best to try something like this at 400 dpi and then work your way up. After the most suitable resolution is found, it's time to consider how much doctoring is in order. In this instance, we got rid of the large scratches and pretty much left it at that.

Several of our restorations were recently published in the book "Quay County, New Mexico 1903-2003: A Pictorial History", including this view of the local newspaper in 1913.

Photographic restoration is our passion. Now that we have the internet, there is no need to let your vintage pictures out of your sight, just email a scan to us and we'll fix it up. Photographs should be scanned at 300 dpi in color (even if it's a black and white), and saved in a TIFF format. JPG and GIF files are to be avoided at all costs. Scanner settings should be set to normal; do not use sharpen, scratch removal, auto fix, etc. Feel free to contact us if you need help. You can also have your images scanned at Kinko's or other such places. Or we can come to you and scan your pictures there. There is no charge for travel within 50 miles of Fallston, MD. We also travel the U.S. fairly often and will be happy to stop by to do some scanning if we're in the area at no extra charge. You can also mail us prints through the U.S. Mail or UPS. Be sure and include your email address with your files and a note on what you would like us to do with your pictures. We can return your restored pictures as a file via email, or we can mail you a CD or prints of any size. We can also frame your new print, or create a slide show, Power Point presentation, album, or a coffee-table book for you. Whether you use our services or not, please consider scanning your family pictures and burning them to two CD's, one for the house and one for the safe-deposit box.
